About San Antonio

ALAMO spent the better part of a year investigating several cities in Texas to host the 71st World Science-Fiction Convention. After much discussion and crunching of numbers, we decided that San Antonio is the best place to have a WorldCon in 2013.

San Antonio was the host of LoneStarCon II in 1997. It is considered one of the most unique cities in Texas and is full of history, culture, color and fun. (Read more about San Antonio)

The convention would be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio which was also the location for LoneStarCon II. Since that time, the center has undergone a complete refurbishment and I think everyone will be impressed with the new look.

Hotels will be within 3 blocks of the center with the majority of the rooms within 1 block. The party hotel will be within 1 block. Pricing will range from $120-$165 a night. (Normal room rates in San Antonio are $200-$400.)

All of this will take place next to the famous San Antonio Riverwalk which will give visitors access to many different restaurants, bars, museums, stores and entertainment.
