    Grants

ALAMO will entertain petitions for financial grants that are for the purposes of promoting the understanding and appreciation of the literary fields of fantasy, science fiction and horror.

For example, in accomplishment of such purposes, ALAMO will consider a grant that promotes, develops, or maintains an interest in literacy and such literary fields. This may include supporting regional, national and international fantasy, science fiction and horror conventions or conferences within the state of Texas.

A Grant may also be awarded to provide a forum for the free discussion of ideas and concepts associated with the literary fields of fantasy, science fiction and horror.

All Grants are subject to review by the Grant Committee and/or the ALAMO Board of Directors.

Grant applications should, at a minimum, contain:

    • The type of event
    • The primary purpose for which the Grant money will be used (see below)
    • The name and non-profit status of the organization requesting the Grant
    • Individual requesting grant and office within the Organization
    • A contact name (if different) and means of contact
    • The date, and time if applicable, of the event
    • The event venue
    • Other information that may be helpful in evaluating the Grant

ALAMO Grants carry the stipulation that ALAMO be credited whenever the recipient, or event, is mentioned in print, advertising or electronic media.

Grant approval is at the sole discretion of the Grant Committee and or the ALAMO Board of Directors

Grant applications, in order to be considered, must be received by the Grant Committee no later than ninety (90) days prior to the date of the event.

It is the intent of ALAMO, Inc. that grant money be used to enhance, or otherwise extend, the goal of the requesting organization.

    Examples of such use include:

    • the addition of a special guest
    • a seminar, symposium or workshop
    • exhibits or showcases (excluding those where the exhibited items are also offered for sale).

Grants are not intended to be used to defray costs normally associated with a conference or convention.

ALAMO, Inc. is a Non-Profit organization and as such cannot make grants to any organization or person(s) that do not meet the applicable IRS rules governing the disbursement of funds for 501 (c) 3 corporations.
