LONGHORNS OF THE LAW - Bouchercon 2002 in Austin, Texas!

The Renaissance Austin Hotel is now sold out for Bouchercon 2002. The following is a list of our overflow hotels for the convention:

Embassy Suites Hotel Austin/Arboretum. 9505 Stonelake Blvd. This is our main overflow hotel, with 100 rooms blocked. Embassy offers a two-room suite, with a cooked to order breakfast every morning and a managers reception/ cocktail hour from 5:30 pm to 7:30 PM every day. Rates are $129.00 per day. This hotel is about one mile from the Renaissance across a heavily traveled north-south expressway (Hwy 183/Research Blvd.), but the hotel does provide a free shuttle between it and the Renaissance with hours of operation to be posted at the convention. Amerisuites 3612 Tudor Blvd. This is another suites hotel; it offers a small suite with either a king bed or two double beds, a refrigerator, microwave oven and wet bar in each suite with plates and silverware for your use. Rates are $109.00 per day, and we have 50 rooms blocked. This hotel shares a parking lot with the Embassy Suites, and it also has its own shuttle that will be used to take Bouchercon members to and from the Renaissance. Courtyard by Marriott-Austin Northwest. 9409 Stonelake Blvd. The typical Courtyard room for the business traveler, but with comforts like cable TV with HBO and ESPN, comfortable, roomy kings and doubles, indoor pool, whirlpool, and exercise room, a hearty breakfast (not free, though!) available. We have 50 rooms available at $89.00 per day. However, you will need to drive yourself to and from the Renaissance as this hotel has no shuttle. Call 1-800-321-2211 for reservations.

Residence Inn Austin/ Arboretum 3713 Tudor Blvd. Extended stay hotel with small suites, including studio and 1- and 2-bedroom suites. Each suite has a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven and coffeemaker. There is a complimentary continental breakfast, as well as an outdoor pool, spa, and court. We have 20 rooms booked, with the studio and 1 bedrooms for $99.00 per day and $159.00 per day for the 2 bedroom suites. This hotel also does not have a shuttle to the Renaissance; if you stay here you will have to drive yourself to and from the convention. Reservations are at 1-800-331-3131.

Holiday Inn Northwest Plaza/Arboretum 8901 Business Park Dr. Recently renovated rooms and an atrium highlight this property, along with an indoor/outdoor heated pool, hot tub and 24 hour fitness center. We have 50 rooms blocked at $119.00 per day. This hotel is the farthest overflow from the Renaissance, and you will need to drive yourself to and from the hotel as there is no shuttle.
